Apple Crumble

Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 6 Tbsp of butter
  • 3/4 cups of flour
  • 3/4 cups of light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cups of rolled oats
  • 1/2 cups of chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp of lemon juice
  • 4 apples (Medium; Macintosh are good. Peeled, cored, and cut into half-inch wedges)

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350F.

2. Butter 8-by-8-inch baking dish.

3. In medium bowl, combine flour, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, oats, nuts, and salt.

4. Add the butter and stir with a fork until the crumbs are moist.

5. Add the apples to the buttered baking dish and toss with remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.

6. Spread the apples into an even layer.

7. Sprinkle the crumb mixture on top.

8. Bake until the apples are tender and the topping is crisp and brownish (about 50 to 60 minutes).

9. Serve plain or with whipped cream or ice cream.
