1. Slice 2 Tbsp of butter into a medium bowl.
2. Add, alternating, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 Tsp of milk, mixing with a hand mixer or wooden spoon until you've used an entire box of powder and the consistency is right for cookie icing.
3. If you'll be icing a lot of cookies, do the same thing with a second box of powdered sugar.
4. Divide the icing among a few small bowls and mix in the food coloring depending on how many and what colors you'll use.
